COMPANY PROFILE
Slip No More was founded in the early months of
2006 and was subsequently registered as a close
corporation in May 2006.Dean Strydom, having come
from a retail and brand buliding background
identified an opportunity within the South African
market for products and services in the floor
safety industry.
Extensive research was carried out in terms of
finding the right price, right product for the
S.A market and the right supplier. Slip No More
now has a continual supply of product, a fixed
price as well as a constant flow of information
from the manufacturer .
In our fast paced world, slip related injuries
represent an increasingly high percentage of
work and home accidents. These accidents cause
expensive medical problems, long-term
disabilities, workers compensation payouts and
insurance problems.
South Africa tends to lag the rest of the world
when it comes to legislation, but it is catching
up fast. In this vein, Slip No More recognized
that in the context of environmental safety,
floor surface co-efficient of friction standards
will soon be legislated to match those that exist
in other countries.
Whilst there are at present, no available
statistics in South Africa with respect to slip
and fall accidents, the following have been
obtained from the Americas as well as from Europe:
- In North America alone, slip injury costs
exceed 100 billion dollars annually.
- The United States Occupational Safety and
Health Administration (OSHA) report that
slip and falls
account for 15of all accidental deaths,
second only to motor vehicle accidents.
- The US Bureau of Labor Statistics (B.L.S)
report that more than 200,000 health care
workers are injured in slips and falls on
walking surfaces in health care facilities
annually.
- A National US Health Survey indicates that 1
person in 15 incurs a home injury requiring
medical attention every year. The bulk of
these are slip and fall injuries. 28,000
people are killed every year by unintentional
home injuries, of these about 11,000 are
related to slips and falls.
- The National Safety Council reported that in
the US 170,000 people are injured in bathtubs
and showers and over 800,000 injuries occur
on floor surfaces for various reasons each year.
- In The United Kingdom the single most common
cause of non-fatal major injuries to employees
is slips and falls.
- The European Foundation ranks slip and falls
as the second highest common cause of injuries
for 8 European countries.
It is with this backdrop, that Slip No More was
