AN UPDATE ON THE BEE RECOGNITION LEVEL

At the time of sending our August newsletter the article from TECSA was correct but Government has  changed the procedure of Exempt Micro Enterprise status. This latest information was supplied by Arlene Wilson-Max of TECSA.

An Exempt Micro Enterprise

You are an Exempt Micro Enterprise if you have an annual turnover of less than R5 million.  Your company fits into the 65 - 75% bracket which automatically makes you a good BEE Contributor.

Your BEE Recognition level is 4.

Your potential client’s will request your BEE Recognition Level or BEE Status from you prior to doing business with you.

As an Exempt Micro Enterprise you can explain to them that you have a BEE Recognition Level of 4 and send them a copy of a signed and stamped letter from your Auditor.

To attain proof as an EME, Please request a formal written letter from your Auditor as Follows: -

Re:  Confirmation of Exempt Micro Enterprise (EME)

“Auditor’s company name” hereby confirm that “Your company name” with a company registration number …/…/….. have an annual turnover of less than R5 million.

We therefore acknowledge that they are classified as an “Exempt Micro Enterprise” as per the Department of Trade and Industry’s Black Economic Empowerment Codes of Good Practice.

They are therefore a good BEE contributor and they automatically score between 65% – 75%.  They have a BEE Recognition Level 4.
