AUGUST 2011
Another year behind us and another birthday for BnB SURE and what an exciting year it’s been. We are now 12 years old and it is also the first anniversary of our move to Infiniti Insurance, also an exciting time and we sincerely hope that you will have seen a difference.
In addition we are in the final stages of completing our company restructure that will see people specialising in their areas of strength with Admin staff looking after only admin matters in each branch and under the control of an Office Manager reporting directly to a National Branch Manager. On the other side we now have Regional Brand Managers reporting to a National Brand Manager, looking after all aspects of the relationship between BnB SURE and our broking friends from claims queries to finding out and learning about changes to our policy.
This is just settling down and we are hoping this will be at full strength by the end of August. The full structure with names can be found under “Contact” in our website on http://www.bnbsure.co.za/
GARDEN ROUTE
We mentioned in the July edition of “From the Breakfast Table” that we have now opened a BSU (Broker Support Unit) based in George and looking after the entire Garden Route and our Regional Brand Manager there is Ranette Muller who is already establishing relationships with brokers and interest groups in the region.
Ranette can be contacted at ranette@bnbsure.co.za or on 072 120 9360
TAX & CPA LEGAL COSTS SECTION
During April we announced the launch of a unique ''TAX & CPA LEGAL COSTS'' section of BnB SURE.
The section provides legal assistance using a panel of lawyers in the fields of tax or CPA cases which the insured might find themselves having to defend.
The policy does not cover the penalty itself but only the costs of defending any action.
During the last two months since the launch of this section we have found great concern by B&B and Guesthouse owners about the possible implications of the CPA and we have been asked to address several associations on this and the interest in the legal costs section has been encouraging.
When we launched we had just one option of a limit of R300,000 covering both sections at a premium of R250pm and since then we have negotiated a second option of a limit of R100,000 at only R114pm.
WINDSCREEN CLAIMS
A reminder of the simplicity of our windscreen claims. In the event of a policyholder having a damaged or broken windscreen we suggest that the policyholder phones our Toll Free number on 0800 55 66 77 and wait for the prompt on glass and that will take the caller directly to the PG Glass call centre who will handle everything.
The advantage of the policyholder contacting PG Glass through the call centre is so that arrangements can be made immediately for a time and place for the work to be done and all claims documents to be completed. This makes it substantially quicker for the insured rather than going through the broker and then to the local BnB SURE office.
POTHOLES
We have been asked a few times what our view is on damage to vehicles and especially tyres if an insured vehicle hits a pothole. The answer is quite simple. If any part of the car is damaged and in addition the tyres, the entire claim including the tyres will be treated as a claim but only if there is damage in addition to the tyres. The normal excess will apply and betterment will apply to the tyres that have been damaged.
BnB SURE WEBSITE
A reminder that the homepage of our website www.bnbsure.co.za has, under a section “ITEMS OF INTEREST” articles on both CPA and the Road Accident Fund Amendment Act both of which affect the B&B and guesthouse industry.
In addition there is a video clip that shows what happens if water is thrown onto a small oil fire. BnB SURE had a claim of this nature last year that totalled around R1m because of one small jug of water!!!!!!
The reason for this video clip on the website is to assist policyholders in the education of staff
