APRIL 2011
The first of our exhibitions for the year is now behind us. Hostex was held at the Sandton Convention Centre in mid March and it was wonderful to see so many of our policyholders there. One of the things we always find amazing at exhibitions such as Hostex, is the number of establishments operating with completely incorrect insurances or in some cases, no insurance at all. Even more terrifying are the establishment owners who don't believe they need insurance or that the standard commercial policy issued for the florist shop down the road or the bakery on the corner works fine. It seems some accommodation owners are getting some very bad advice!
LET'S NOT CUT DOWN TREES
Trees are crucial to so much on our planet but trees are also used to make paper. Research shows that something like 80% of printed paper is never actually read. Help us to help our future and instead of hard copy documents let's use electronic documents whenever possible.
We at BnB SURE have all our policy documents available in electronic format and we encourage the use of these. They are easier to find your way around, easier to file and more reliable and faster than paper documents being posted.

BROKER ASSIST
We have often mentioned our "Broker Assist" programme that is designed to make the lives of our brokers easier with all the varied policies they have to deal with as more and more UMAs emerge and as more and more insurers produce "specialist policies".
Broker Assist is simply an icon that goes onto a computer (laptop or desktop) and a simple mouse click opens copies of the Electronic Policy Wording, The excess structure for all sections, the Needs Analysis, Inventory and Proposal form, all of which can be emailed or printed as the insured requires. In addition we mentioned the facility that has a the huge time saver for brokers, where claims notes can be accessed at any time avoiding the need to send reminders to BnB SURE offices.
BnB ASSIST
BnB ASSIST is made up of a multiplicity of services to assist our policyholders and instead of a long list of figures on our schedules we will in future be changing these figures to just one entry marked BnB ASSIST. Look out for this simplified schedule.
APPLIANCE & MAINTENANCE SECTION
We remind brokers that for this section which is used extensively by policyholders, the insured may use their own service provider and does not have to have a service provider appointed by the call centre. When an insured calls the Toll Free number, they will be asked if they have their own service provider and if the insured would like the Call Centre to make the arrangements.
MAY EDITION OF ''FROM THE BREAKFAST TABLE''
There will be no May edition of "From the Breakfast Table" but instead there will be TWO ''Special Edition'' newsletters going out, the first in mid-April and the second on the first working day of May.
Both of these Special Editions will carry news of new cover available from, and as an optional extra, on BnB SURE. We think they are exciting and as always, in response to concerns from the industry.
Look out for them.
SMS NOTIFICATION
We now have the facility to send out sms notification direct to policyholders when any of the following occurs:
1. Claim is registered
2. Claim paid
3. Premium unmet
but before putting this in place we are aware that there are brokers who would not want this to happen and as a result in those cases we will block this. We intend launching this on 1 May but if you do not want this service to your clients which will save you time, please let us know by 15 April and we will remove your brokerage from the list of those requiring this.
