INDABA at the beginning of next month is the focus and once again BnB SURE will be there and several meetings have already been established with various key role players. Whilst INDABA is a very important forum and at which we are once again one of the sponsors of the glittering AA Travel Guides awards banquet it was at HOSTEX, this year in Johannesburg, where guesthouse owners visit us and where we are able to interact and talk about any of the services we offer and these are many and increasing all the time. And some good news from SA Tourism in their newsletter that arrived in February where they say “As the global credit-crunch crisis continues to bite, and arrival figures slow, positive news emerged as the New York Times, UK Times and British Airways all highlighted South Africa as a must-visit destination in 2009. South Africa also held the spotlight at WTM in London in November, not only as the host nation of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™, but also as a world-leader in sustainable travel. April see the start of the IPL Cricket tournament and then in June we have the FIFA Confederations Cup between them bringing into the country thousands of sports fans and we can confidently expect that many of these people will be looking to stay in guesthouses. May will see thousands arriving in Durban for INDABA and then at the end of May people head back to Durban for Comrades Marathon. Held this year on 24 May which is the date on which it was originally run in 1921 when it started. As the so called economic crunch continues so we find B&Bs and guesthouses running fairly full as South Africans stay at home and foreigners find it easier to come here. THE BELLS ARE RINGING Congratulations to our Operations Manager at National Office, Debbie Smith who tied the knot to JJ van Wyk on 3 April. So, if you see emails, etc coming from Debbie van Wyk, it’s our same Debbie with a brand new surname. We wish both Debbie and JJ many happy years together. BnB SURE JAZZ On THE ROCKS Can you think of a better way to spend Easter Sunday afternoon than lazing on the beach listening to the cool sounds of jazz. That was the situation this last Sunday next to the lighthouse at Umhlanga Rocks when the BnB SURE Jazz on the Rocks took place. The George Mari jazz band kept the relaxed audience entertained for three hours and those there thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. The event was organized by Umhlanga Tourism. FUNERAL SECTION We are pleased to be able to say that we now have the option to increase our basic R6000 funeral cover to either R10,000 or to R15,000 at additional premium. There is in line with other funeral policies, a waiting period for the funeral section and this applies to the increase as well. In the event the higher figures are required please let us know and we will be happy to let you have the premium for the increase. ELECTRONIC POLICY WORDING Our new electronic policy wording has been received with enthusiasm by many people who are “thinking Green” and who are concerned about the environment and of course who don’t want piles of paper lying around. Please advise us if you require an electronic policy wording instead of the hard copy which for policyholders is a lot easier to store and can have a simple icon on their computer for immediate access to the document.
